TRICK DOG CLASS

Next class:

For more information and to register, Email Melody Newberry at:

AKC new titles for: Trick Dog and Virtual Home Manners.

The Novice Trick Dog test requires the dog to perform 10 tricks but a CGC title counts as five (at Novice level). Dogs with a CGC can quickly move on and work at the Intermediate title.

This is an introductory class so no prior experience is necessary, but it would be beneficial if the dogs already know basics like sit, down and work on a flat collar and leash.

NOTE: Melody is available to do "virtual testing" for your Trick Dog title and/or Virtual Home Manners

Contact her directly by Emailing: aknewberrys@gmail.com

Information about Trick Dog tricks can be found at http://www.akc.org/about-trick-dog/

Information about Virtual Home Manners: Virtual Home Manners – American Kennel Club (akc.org)

Canine Good Citizen (CGC)

CGC is a certification program that is designed to reward dogs who have good manners at home and in the community.   The Canine Good Citizen Program is a two-part program that stresses responsible pet ownership for owners and basic good manners for dogs.  All dogs who pass the 10-step CGC test may receive a certificate from the American Kennel Club.

Dogs do not have to be purebred to take the CGC test. More details about the test can be found on our “Canine Good Citizen” link.  Please read our Canine Good Citizen page for more details.

Rally:

Next Class:

Tuesday, March 14th, 2023 there will be Run-Throughs at the club to prepare students and dogs
for our upcoming April 28th-30th Obedience and Rally Trials

Rally is a sport in which the dog and handler complete a course that has been designed by the rally judge. The judge tells the handler to begin, and the dog and handler proceed at their own pace through a course of designated stations (10 - 20, depending on the level). Each of these stations has a sign providing instructions regarding the next skill that is to be performed. Scoring is not as rigorous as traditional obedience.
